Hi Diana There is information about the Aboriginal Briggs and Whites in Noeline Briggs-Smith's books Winanaga Li 1999 and Burrul Wallay (Big Camp) 2003 published by the Northern Regional Library Moree . There is a photo of Emily Grace Briggs daughter of Edward James Norman Briggs and Elizabeth White. Emily married Alexander White but I see your Emily married Henry White. Frederick Briggs is also mentioned. Frederick is a bit of a puzzle as there are different versions of his parentage. Noeline Briggs- Smith is the daughter of Rita and Norman Briggs and may be able to help you further. I haven't her up to date contact details but I am sure you could get these from her nephew Ronald Briggs at the State Library of NSW. They had one son that I know of Ernest Malcolm Passfield b June 1925, served in WW2 died 28 Dec 2002 Sydney. Vera M PASSFIELD died 19 April 1982 notice appears in the Daily Telegraph 23 April 1982. I believe she is the daughter of Henry White and Emily BRIGGS. I think Ernest Mervyn's parents are Albert Edward Passfield and Mary Griffiths. I'm trying to track down possible indigenous heritage somewhere along the line. The Passfields seem to be immigrants from England! One Joshua and Mary PASSFIELD on the Garland 1851. That's where I am so far. I thought Emily White-Briggs father could have been on Frederick John BRIGGS who apparently was a native of New Zealand according to his son's enlistement papers. (Page 19 of 46 from WW1 Records) He was also a Frederick John BRIGGS who was born in Queensland. The family all seem to be living in the Manilla and Gunnedah areas NSW. Any help finding anything on the family much appreciated.
