I hope that this is of interest to some There is a Wood Family Reunion being held at Bega on 13 March 2010. The organiser is Kaye Jauncey <kaye.jauncey@bigpond.com> A reunion of the descendents of James O'Brien and Mary Ann Smith, and their eight children, who came to Australia from County Meath in Ireland in 1864. Most of the family initially settled in the Bega region of NSW, but one girl, Ellen, settled in the Strathmerton/Bulla region of Victoria after marrying Thomas Branigan at Keilor , Victoria . Names prominent in the family include O'Brien, Went, Goward, Whitby, Hyde, Holzhauser, Smith, Peisley, Black, Pheeney, Branigan, Pinnuck, Brown, Webb, Collins, Coman, Holland, Duley, House, Madden, Meaker, Moran, Noonan, Rixon, Ziegler. (Of course, there are many more that I have not listed here and I apologise if your family name is not listed). Many of those who initially settled at Bega then moved to the Illawarra, Bondi in Sydney, the North Coast of NSW around Lismore, Kyogle and Casino, and the Sunshine Coast of Queensland around Woodford. Please contact your near and distant relatives about this function as we do not have the addresses of many family members. We would like as many family as possible to attend.
