Hi I have found a death entry on the NSW BDM index of a man whom I think could be related. The entry reads Charles WATSON, died 1880, father unknown, buried Necropolis entry # 180163/2005. As the last four numerals in the entry number are usually the year of death could anyone tell me why "2005" is entered. I know I can ring the Registry Office & ask them but I can't do this until much later in the week so I thought I would ask on the list in case anyone has previously found this type of entry. I've also searched the three on-line Rookwood databases - (Catholic, Anglican & Independent) but can't find him listed. Thanks for any help. Regards Kerrie
Hi Kerrie I think it is fairly unusual to see the entry 'buried at Rookwood' on the BDM index, is it possible that Charles was originally buried in 1880 and for some reason his remains were exhumed and re-interred at Rookwood in 2005 Patrick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerrie Alexander" <kerriea@aapt.net.au> To: <aus-nsw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 21, 2010 9:27 AM Subject: [AUS-NSW] Strange DEATH entry > Hi > > I have found a death entry on the NSW BDM index of a man whom I think > could be related. That sounds feasible, but one would expect it to be on the appropriate cemetery index. Well, I would. I did a search for an 1880 Funeral Notice but no show. Wonder if it might have been possible for the 1880 death to have been registered in 2005 for the first time. Perhaps a family researcher came up with the death details without a registration ?? Which, of course, doesn't explain why he's not on an Index. Cheers,
