    3. Hi Peter The two records below are from the Tasmania Archives, they are showing a Mr and Mrs Davis departing Hobart for Port Jackson, no given names recorded Also I also found the record for the ship "Elizabeth" on Ancestry, and I read it a bit different to you. I think it sail from London April 26 1829 and arrived at the port of Hobart Town on the 4 September 1829 Van Diemen's and then sail for Sydney 30 September 1829. I think you should be looking for the 'Elizabeth' arriving in Sydney after the 30 Sep 1829. <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=D avis&qf=NI_INDEX%09Record+type%09Departures%09Departures&qf=NI_SHIP_FACET%09 Ship%09Elizabeth%09Elizabeth&qf=NI_DEPARTURE_PORT%09Departure+port%09Hobart% 09Hobart&qu=NI_SHIP_FACET%3DElizabeth> close Name: Davis, Given Name Not Recorded Record Type: Departures <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=N I_INDEX%3D%22Departures%22> Title: Mr Rank: Passenger Departure date: 30 Sep 1829 Departure port: Hobart <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=N I_DEPARTURE_PORT%3D%22Hobart%22> Ship: Elizabeth <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=N I_SHIP_FACET%3D%22Elizabeth%22> Bound to: Port Jackson Document ID: NAME_INDEXES:541380 Resource CUS33/1/1 p144 Name: Davis, Given Name Not Recorded Record Type: Departures <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=N I_INDEX%3D%22Departures%22> Title: Mrs Rank: Passenger Departure date: 30 Sep 1829 Departure port: Hobart <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=N I_DEPARTURE_PORT%3D%22Hobart%22> Ship: Elizabeth <http://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names/search/results?qu=N I_SHIP_FACET%3D%22Elizabeth%22> Bound to: Port Jackson Document ID: NAME_INDEXES:541381 Resource CUS33/1/1 p144 Hope this helps Cheers Josephine Qld. -----Original Message----- From: aus-nsw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-nsw-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tas Tyger via Sent: Monday, 18 May 2015 12:28 PM To: . Hi Peter No early official passenger departure records survive aside from what was in the newspapers .Unsure whether such were kept ? About the only thing I can think of would be the 1828 census. Alas all up there were 197 x DAVIS in this record Who do you hope they were ? Is there a record of his occupation ? Bye MargM Beautiful NSW Central Coast ----- No virus found in this message. 3. Hi Josephine Thanks for all of that info. We have also traced him back to Magnus Craigie. RE Cape Funison: We have it as Cape Finisterre in Spain. The guy who died at sea in 1874 is not mine as we have checked him out. I suppose the Thomas Craig who was a deserter in 1857 could be a possibility but perhaps not much use finding out about him as we have Thomas Craigie up to 1862 when he got married in Wentworth. Actually he must have been there in about February 1863 as young Thomas was born on 19 November 1863. The informant on the birth certificate was the mother. Not that that means the father was not there also at that time. What I need to check is police or gaol records for Wentworth in 1863 or later but don't know where I can access them. Probably have to go to the NSW State Archives. Cheers Ian -----Original Message----- From: Joe Conray via
