Hi Dianna, At the Australian Archives is a WW1 record for John Robert WALTON, born 24 May 1901 at Bingara, next-of-kin Louisa KELLY, father deceased; enlisted 26 May 1918, discharged 3 June 1918 for being under age. There is a death for John A. WALTON, son of Daniel and Catherine, at Bingara in 1902 (822/1903). I couldn't find marriages or births either - maybe no marriage took place and children are registered under a different name? Harriet L. THOMPSON had a number of children at Bingara with no father's name shown in the index, including one in 1901 shown as General R.E.R. THOMPSON. Also Mary C.M.B. Hi Everyone I’m doing some research on the above who was born 24-5-1899 in BINGARA NSW. I have not been able to find an entry for him on the NSW BDM. He enlisted WW1 in Muswellbrook NSW 26-5-1918 but when I looked at the record it does not seem that he actually served in the war at all!!!!!! From what I have been told he ended up with a mental illness after he came back from the war and could not raise his son. That doesn’t seem to be the case at all. The son of this John Robert WALTON was left with John’s sister Molly Catherine WALTON who married Leslie Spencer PENNINGTON in Paddington NSW. Molly WALTON was also born in Bingara NSW again I have found no birth registration to their parents JOHN WALTON and LOUISA HARRIETT or HARRIETT LOUISA THOMSPON. Harriet later had some children to a Edwin J or Evan J KELLY in Bingara from 1906 to 1911, I haven’t found any more children to this couple. Would like to know why I cannot find the children born to Harriett Louisa Thompson/Kelly and John WALTON. No marriage for either relationship Harriett to John Walton or Harriett to Evan Kelly. Hi All, I've been recalled back to this particular fellow by another searcher and have come to the conclusion that too much speculation exists in regards to the findings that are posted on him by others so I'm trying to finally ascertain some concrete facts. Here is the story so far: The story of Nancy Bradley* was the illegitimate product between her father, *John Bradley*, an English sheep farmer who emigrated to Australia and his Aboriginal housekeeper, Mary. Now, while what is said is actually family hearsay, for the most part I believe it is true. Unfortunately it is hard to validate. In any case, when Nancy's father brought back an English wife, she was thrown out of home. She took on the name of Nancy/Hummuch/Hummock/Humue Humuc or Humie . Not much is known about Nancy except that she married George MORRIS, and had 13 children by him. It is speculated that John Bradley actually asked George to marry Nancy (after bearing 4 children) and actually paid him (there could be exaggeration to this part) 300 pounds to do so. * *Nancy was illegitimate, and so never used the last name Bradley. She usually went under the last name of Hummuch/Hummock but also used Humue, Humuc and Humie. * So that's the 'story' of John BRADLEY and his daughter Nancy, but very little is actually known of him*.* What I DO know is that his daughter Nancy HUMUC (BRADLEY) was b1845, Monaroo, NSW on her marriage certificate. She is listed as a housekeeper at the time of marriage 16 Mar 1869. Her mother is listed as Mary (aboriginal) and Father as John BRADLEY, Sheep farmer. X is her mark yet her surname is listed as MORRIS, the same as her bridegroom, George Robert MORRIS Interestingly, her birthplace has been recorded by others as: Manaroo Parish of Cuerindi County of Darling near Manilla NSW Australia. Now this has been difficult for me to find as I try to ascertain where her father John BRADLEY lived as a sheep farmer and when he arrived in Australia. Roger Clarkes, Bunhybee Grasslands website has some info about John BRADLEY as they attempt to record the history of their property. Apparently in the Grevilles 1872 Post Office Directory is listed: John BRADLEY, farmer, Jerebatgully. Which is south of Braidwood, closer to Monaro than Manilla, if I remember correctly. Clarke also has a 1958 land map (much later than the time I am looking around I know) that has a John, Thomas and a Henry BRADLEY all owning land in the same location of Jerebatgulla. From their calculations some of the lots of land sold between 1837 and 1843 in that region was owned by Henry Bradley, but that's in 1958, so not sure how long he had actually owned it for or if he was indeed John Father or not.... So again - not sure when John BRADLEY, sheep farmer, Monaroo NSW, actually arrived, and with whom. Who his supposed English bride was that caused his daughter to be kicked out of home or whether the death information that is recorded for him of Jan 1893 in Lancashire, England is correct. Again, what I DO know is that a number of people have tried to source a connection between John BRADLEY and another wealthy land owner in NSW, being William BRADLEY, which extensive research by Amanda Day - William Bradley Biographer found was not correct. So that at least cuts one possibility out of the picture. So I'm open to any thoughts from others to ensure some clarity of concrete information. Thanks in advance, Fiona
