    2. Joan Birtles
    3. Hello Listers Can anyone tell me where abouts in the Mudgee area Pine Ridge is or was situated please. On looking through 1906 Electoral rolls yesterday my husband's grandparents were living there but we cannot find it on any map. Also the name "Sarscroft", Mudgee was an address for another member of the family. I believe this could be a property name but would be interested if anyone can clarify this please. 3. Amazing! I am astounded by the response to my question about George Young - many, many thanks to Joan, Trish,Julie, MargM,& Elaine for sharing their expertise. I never expected to receive all that information about George, and will check out the suggested websites, plus order his death certificate. His widow, Ethel, died after 1965, and had not remarried by then. I am a great supporter of these mailing lists, and have encouraged others to join a list in the area where their ancestors lived. Local people know what resources are available and are a fantastic help, as you have proved once again. Let me know (off list) if I can help anyone with US research. 3. Hi Christine I'm sorry but couldn't find any children born to 1918 to George & Ethel after 1914....our birth index only goes to 1918 on CD. I could suggest that if there were any children born to this couple they would appear on George's death record in 1932 which you can apply for as a transcription using his death registration number of 653. Cheers Joan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christine Draisey" <cdraisey@mchsi.com> Many thanks to all who answered my question about Chatswood. It looks probable then that the George Young who died there in 1932 is "mine". He was born in Scotland about 1888 to John & Ann Gibson Young, and was married to Ethel Crombie in Woollahra in 1914. He was a cabinet maker according to their marriage record. I could find no reference to him in the Ryerson index. How is the best way to find out if any children were born to this couple? 3. Hello, Chatswood is a northern suburb of Sydney on the railway line north to Hornsby. I am interested in the cemetery under St Pius X school, which is at Chatswood. Have a little info on it .. not a great deal yet though. Chatswood is now a "monster" place, beiing very busy/crowded and full of 'skyscrapers' ... but when I was young, and a boy, there was none of that there then at all. It has all arrived since. The place is said to have been a "wood" once; and named after a local politican's wife who was very talkative and cally Chatty. So originally it was Chatty's wood, I suppose. No idea how true all that is, but it is a well circulated tale. It also once had a brickworks I understand, right in the centre of it somewhere. That I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to track down, because I collect info on old bricks and stuff. I have quite a few memories of Chatswood still. It now stands out as big "blob" on the skyline near Sydney, and you can see it from far far away. I preferred it before it got so over-developed. Hi Christine At that time Chatswood was the name of the registration are that covered a good part of Sydney's North Shore ,e.g on the north side of the Harbour Bridge. (1932 is the year the Bridge opened ) These days Chatswood is just a North Shore suburb Woollahra is on the south side from The Bridge in Sydney's eastern suburbs . Casino and Coraki are quite a long way north of both in northern NSW towards the Qld border Whose death cert was it ? Could probably give you some more info Bye MargM Beautiful NSW Central Coast NSW

    3. Good day to all, Hoping this first message is received 'down under'. Ten years ago I was in contact with a Lesley Waterworth who lived in CORRIMAL 2518. N.S.W. She was king enough to send me her family tree which contained her HUMES from Durham, UK. As I'm a HUME, I paid little attention to the FINER points of her tree. Now having had my DNA results back, it is confirmed that some king person in the dark ages, forgot to put an 'S' onto my ancestors name. I'm now in a better position to try and help her. If only I had a current e-mail address. So if any one out there may know of her, please pass this on THANK YOU John Hume Nottingham UK
