Hi List Am re-posting this, as I didn't get a reply previously and hope someone can help me this time. Could someone please tell me the difference between: 1. "Registers of Settlement Purchases" and 2. "Closer and Soldier Settlement Transfer Files" They appear on NSW State Archive Site. But not sure what the difference means. Many thanks. Carolyn
Hi Elaine, The NSW BMDs show a death for Victor George VIDLER, son of William John and Anita Eleanor, registered at Gosford in 1973 (cert no 55920/1973). Could this be him, or do you have any more information on his parents etc? There is also a listing on the Ryerson Index for Victor George VIDLER, died 31 July 1973 aged 58 years, of Woy Woy formerly of Blacktown, with death notice published in the Sydney Morning Herald on 1 August 1973. You can request a lookup of the death notice if you don't have access to the SMH archives at your library - http://www.ryersonindex.org/ Cheers Trish Nowra NSW > Dear Listers, I am trying to find a death for Victor Vidler. Hi Sue, No, I'm not researching the family, but thought I'd have a look to see what turned up. Found the following:- Arthur and Ethel HARPHAM were the parents of Milbah Eliz, Thelma E and Alan Arthur. They are buried at Macquarie Park, Arthur in 1965 and Ethel in 1958. Alan Arthur HARPHAM married Pateena Alexa SEWELL at North Sydney in 1939. It looks as though they divorced. Alan Arthur HARPHAM married Lorna May CORNELL at Sydney in 1952 Pateena Alexa HARPHAM married Neil Oswald JUDD in 1951 at Forbes. Alan Arthur HARPHAM enlisted for WW2. Service No. NX111556. Born 28 January 1918, Mosman. Enlisted at Frenchs Forest. Next-of-kin: Pateena HARPHAM. Alan Arthur HARPHAM is buried at East Maitland General Cemetery. Headstone reads: "In loving memory of Alan Arthur Harpham, Beloved husband of Lorna. 28 Jan 1919-6 Sept 2002. Lorna's darling sweetheard. Sadly missed." No names of children mentioned, so unlikely you will find any descendants. Neil Oswald JUDD is buried at Albion Park Anglican. His headstone reads "In loving memory of Neil Oswald Judd, 10.9.20-3.5.79, dearly loved husband of Pat, Devoted father of Laurel Teena Ralph Warren Ivan, In God's care". Both Alan HARPHAM and Neil JUDD's information was found on the Arkangles website. Many thanks Judy We didn't realise there were so many "Pine Ridges", however the homestead near Leadville out of Mudgee could possibly be the one we are looking for. Just waiting for the birth record of my husband's mother to see if it specifies Pine Ridge on her birth record. Hi Diana Many thanks. I had a message from John Broadley the historian at Mudgee who said there was a property at Leadville on the way to Coolah and owned by GH Cox of Burrundulla. I think this is more like the Pine Ridge we are after as Jim's grandparents & mother seemed to be in the close Mudgee area all their lives although I know people did travel for work to further areas. Cheers Joan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana" <pisces26@iinet.net.au> > Hi Joan, > I have an older map somewhere which I am sure Pine Ridge is on. There is a Pine Ridge west of Quirindi on the way to Gunnedah. Has a small school. Have driven through it as my sister in law and her husband have a farm in the area. Many thanks Frank & Dianne & Lee-anne for your help in locating Pine Ridge. I did search whereis but evidently didn't search correctly. I find that it is not all that far from Cassilis where the family were also for a short time before moving to Mudgee. Hi Joan, I have an older map somewhere which I am sure Pine Ridge is on. I think it was somewhere out along the Sydney Road. I will check it out later. Someone on the Pilliga list should be able to help.
