Thank you Marie very much for your interest. I would agree that the Nathias Duncomb who died in 1886 could be my Matthew. I am not too sure of the reationship between William, George and Matthais. Cannot find any of their births in NSW so will have to spend some money and get a marriage certificate for Ellen and Matthew or check the NSW immigration lists. cheers Margaret Kelly Sandstone Point Qld ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marie Donaldson" <mariedonaldson@optusnet.com.au> To: <aus-nsw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 11:24 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-NSW] Duncombe family from Nowra > HI, I'm not researching this family but had a little look on your behalf. > > I found William d aged 90 at Alstonville, reg Ballina in1936 # 51022. > Father was Matthew. Hi Colleen Central Coast or is it Wyong Family History Group ? The library at Narrara (Gosford) should also have them. There are 45 references to Mr MOORE mostly J MOORE J.P 1 reference to William MOORE, 5 April 1838, hut to be erected at Reids Mistake for constable. Looks as though it may be too early for your fellow. Is there anyone searching the surname ERNST, hoping to contact descendants of Charles and Linda Ernst. Regards, Jill
Good afternoon, Researching my g/father Robert JONES, b. 1875 Mayfield, Field of Mars nr. Parramatta to William Henry Jones & Elizabeth (Young/Perry) brother of Henry: James, John, Alfred: step-brother of Elizabeth Perry & Alexander Perry. Robert married (H)Ellen Barnes 1904 Balmain. Children: Robt. Wm. Henry: Alfred John: Elizabeth Ellen: Doris. Ellen d.1912: he was a heavy drinker: the children were placed in Our Childrens Home, Nth. Strathfield & Our Boys Home, Camden - later all stayed at the Nth. Strathfield home. When Ellen died Robert wandered around parts of NSW and appears to have stayed in Trunkey Creek for some time working around the areas gold mines. He lost contact with his children until the 1950's and died in 1961. I am clutching at straws, however, I wonder if he married again or lived in a relationship whilst living in that area. Regards, Joan.
HI, I'm not researching this family but had a little look on your behalf. I found William d aged 90 at Alstonville, reg Ballina in1936 # 51022. Father was Matthew. Alstonville is right near Lismore, so perhaps this is the reason that Ellen was in this area - she had relatives there. Mathew (Mathais seem to be family names. Found a death for Nathias (Mathias?) Duncomb died Kiama in 1887. Could be your Mathew and would explain why there were no more children born to Ellen after 1886. Father was John D. There are several other Duncomb/e couples having babies in the 1870s and 80s, all living around the Nowra, Shoalhaven area so may be brothers or cousins of your chap. HTH Marie George and Margatet's daughter Mary E appears to have died the same year she was born 1880 reg at Shoalhaven
HI Joan A death certificate in most cases would have listed all marriages that he entered into. Also children that were had to those relationships. Hi Would anyone be researching the DUNCOMBE family who lived in the Nowra District around 1880. I have a Matthew DUNCOMBE who married Ellen Casey in 1827 in Nowra and they had Winifred, born in 1878, Peter born in 1879, James Patrick Born in 1881, Matthias born in 1883 and Elizabeth N born in 1886. All children were born in the Shoalhaven area. Their mother Ellen died in Lismore in 1922. Ellen's sister, Margaret Casey married George DUNCOMBE in 1875 in Nowra and they had two children George P 1877 and Mary Ethel in 1880. Both children were born in the Nowra area. Margaret died in 1900 in Nowra. I do not know if George and Matthew were brothers. Any help in finding out more of these families would be appreciated. Many thanks Margaret Kelly Sandstone Point Qld

Good morning, Information on ST. DAVID'S CHURCH, SURRY HILLS, SYDNEY until 1919. My great uncle, Henry JONES had some connection with this church - I would like to know as much as I can about it, or where I may find archives - I am presuming it was Methodist. Regards, Joan.
I have a William Henry MOORE who was a policeman 29.1.1847 until he was dismissed 14 months later on 17.3.1848. Am wondering where would it be best to find out why he was 'dismissed' - Police Gazettes or Col Sec Records or even SMH? The Police Records did not record 'why' just the dates. Were these three all operating in Feb 1848? Many thanks Colleen Central Coast NSW email with no additional text.
