Ruth, on the Ryerson index online there is a Rita Marie Hill died 28 September 1973 aged 57 so that would make her birth about 1916.On NSW BDM online Ida R J Hogan born 1889/15267 registered Oberon.Ida married Herbert J Hogan 1911/6131 registered marrickville. Then married Frederick J Dennis 1919/9621.On the NSW BDM online there is a Rita merle Hill death 1973/69020. It would be worthwhile getting a transcript of the death of Ida.Also have you looked at the Australian Cemetery site and go to the Oberon cemetery you will find the headstones have been photographed. Hello Elaine, Thank you for replying. Yes, I have checked out all the places that you have given me. RITA MERLE HILL was formally RITA MERLE SADLER who was married to HERBERT JAMES HILL and I know that Rita's husband is old but unwell and is not Herbert. His Rita is supposed to have been much younger than he was and he was born 1923. I have seen the Oberon Cemetery site in fact I visited there a few weeks back whilst in NSW. Thank you for taking the time to check these things out for me I appreciate your help. Hi Jenny, Only the one child of Ormas & Alice. William O., born 1911 Wentworth (22874). Cheers, Jules. Warren, NSW. (But, still a Queensland girl) julie.dern@bigpond.com http://derngenealogy.tribalpages.com
Thanks Marg, This family ended up in Melbourne and the name Ormas was too unusual not to have been related. All the best, Jenny
Many thanks Jules, That was just the confirmation I was looking for! Wonderful! Jenny
Hi Everyone, Would someone with the CD of births please look up the following? Any children to Ormas McTurry TOWERS & Alice McFARLANE (formerly WHITAKER) from about 1910 when they married. Many thanks, Jenny
Hi Keith Go www.naa.gov.au go search as guest, put their names in. If record not open then go thru instructions to apply, once open you will have to reapply again to have them digitalised. I did mine and received all records of immigration and naturalisatiom. I have an incidental ancestor, Ephraim ANDREW, who was convicted of vagrancy and sentenced to be imprisoned with hard labour for two months. The case was heard in the Central Police Court in Sydney on 14 Feb 1882 (per SMH). Does anybody have any idea how I track down the gaol to which he may have been sent? I can then follow up any prison records with State Archives. Thanks, Darryl
