Hi Glynis, I've had no luck searching for the placename "Somers Town" either. Nothing on NSW Archives under census, not in the Post Office Directory 1867, Govt Gazette, or newspapers. Hawkesbury On The Net came up blank also on the dropdown list of locations; if you don't have any success, you might try contacting them direct to see if there is any information available - http://www.hawkesbury.org/?c=placenames-search http://www.hawkesbury.org/?c=page&thread_id=6 Cheers Trish Nowra NSW > Could sks enlighten me with details of "Somers Town" in the Electoral > District of the Hawkesbury - 1859-1860 & 1860-1861, please? > Any assistance or suggestions will be gratefully accepted, many thanks in > advance, > Glynis Wheeler > St Clair
There is a town south of Melbourne (near the Flinders Naval Depot) called "Somers" - you sure you have the right State? Or maybe that was named after the same person who called your spot "Somers Town" - Begs the question... who was Somers? Cheers Ainslie.
Dear Folks, Could sks enlighten me with details of "Somers Town" in the Electoral District of the Hawkesbury - 1859-1860 & 1860-1861, please? I am interested in 2 brothers James and John MILLER from Norfolk, England who arrived in the Colony on the Washington Irving on 27th September 1857 and were married at St Paul's Church or England Church, Emu Plains in 1858 & 1860 respectively. James was listed as a bricklayer and John as a carpenter in the ship's passenger manifest. John was working as a sawyer for the Penrith Nepean Bridge Company during the time the bridge voer the Nepean River was being replaced about 1857-1859. Both men took their wives and families to Quirindi in the 1860's. Any assistance or suggestions will be gratefully accepted, many thanks in advance, Glynis Wheeler St Clair E-mail message checked by Spyware Doctor (6.0.0.386) Database version: 5.13650 http://www.pctools.com/en/spyware-doctor-antivirus/

Hi Grahame, I don't have a photo, but do have the Wollombi Register. If you visit the Wollombi Museum you may find a photo as they have many albums there for you to look at, I have found many items at the museum including articles in the Sugar Loaf newspaper, well worth a visit, but make an appointment. Hi Marg, I can only call 'em like I see 'em - and the online indexes said Mary Esther Nellie BEARCROFT. And Mary BEARCROFT was buried at Rookwood. There is a convict named Edward BEARCROFT in NSW. Two burials at Eastern Suburbs cemetery under BEARCROFT. Lots of BEARCROFTs in newspapers, telephone directory, google, FreeBMD in UK, etc. Not a name I've ever seen before though, but they seem to be around in (small) numbers. Cheers Trish > Could it be BEACROFT/ BEECROFT > > BEARCROFT seems to say 'typo' > > > Bye > > MargM > Beautiful Wyong Shire > NSW >
This isnt her here in the NSW marriage index for 1933?? 11257/1933 THOMPSON ALBERT P MAGENNIS NELLIE D M PARRAMATTA Buy Now she would of been barely 20 being married in 1916, and this would be 35 here??? cheers Jewelly Shift your problems to challenges. When you have problems, you worry about them. When you have challenges - you are working, applying, and attacking your plan to get results. This shift in thinking from problems to challenges is important in making tension an asset. --- On Fri, 6/11/09, Lyn Baker <lb352528@bigpond.net.au> wrote: From: Lyn Baker <lb352528@bigpond.net.au> I am researching Nellie Hudson b 1896. married Leslie Halliday Magennis, had 6 children, and disappeared from the family between 1937 and 1943 (based on electoral roll). Hi Lyn, This one is a long-shot for you, but may be worth investigating further. Deaths - 17558/1950 Mary Esther Nellie BEARCROFT Died 1950, Petersham Parents: Anthony and Esther As these are the same names of the parents of Nellie HUDSON, I thought it may be more than a coincidence? Mary Esther Nellie BEARCROFT is buried at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery, buried 23/8/1950, aged 75 This makes her a lot older than Nellie though. There is no record in NSW BDMs for birth of Mary BEARCROFT or marriage for BEARCROFT to Mary UNKNOWN. There is no record for the birth of Mary Esther Nellie BEARCROFT on the UK BMDs. I also found Mary Esther Nellie Bearcroft who died 20 August 1950 age 75 buried rookwood she is also listed on the Probate Index - of Rhodes also a Frederick Charles Bearcroft who died between 19 & 21 June 1959 also listed probate index -- of Rhodes could not find a burial for him also no marriage found. if one looks at the date of death 1950 and age 75 of Mary Esther Nellie this would make a birth year of abt 1875 and nellie Hudson was born 1896 Dungong father anthony and mother Esther. so I would not say that they are the same person, yet they both had listed on the BDM the same father and Mother's christian names I have looked for Nellie Hudson for the person enquiring, well she does seem to have vanished.. best I could do was a Nellie L Mcguinnes who married John H Turner 1933 Toronto nsw Leslie Halliday Magennis was living at the same address as Florence Pearl O'Neill in 1942 at Hooke Street Dungong.. looks like they did not marry he died Dungong 1960 she died Hamilton 1969 regards Lorette --- On Fri, 6/11/09, Trev Symonds <psym8950@bigpond.net.au> wrote: > From: Trev Symonds <psym8950@bigpond.net.au> > Subject: Re: [AUS-NSW] MISSING PERSON- BEACROFT/ BEECROFT ? > To: aus-nsw@rootsweb.com > Received: Friday, 6 November, 2009, 3:26 PM > Hi Marg, > I can only call 'em like I see 'em - and the online indexes > said Mary Esther > Nellie BEARCROFT. > And Mary BEARCROFT was buried at Rookwood. > There is a convict named Edward BEARCROFT in NSW. > Two burials at Eastern Suburbs cemetery under BEARCROFT. > Lots of BEARCROFTs in newspapers, telephone directory, > google, FreeBMD in > UK, etc. > Not a name I've ever seen before though, but they seem to > be around in > (small) numbers. > Cheers > Trish >> > > Could it be BEACROFT/ BEECROFT > > > > BEARCROFT seems to say 'typo' >> > Bye > > MargM > > Beautiful Wyong Shire > > NSW > __________________________________________________________________________________ Win 1 of 4 Sony home entertainment packs thanks to Yahoo!7. Greetings, I have two requests: I'm searching for connections of an old friend by the name of Noel Frederick Black who died in Sydney on 14th July 1987. His death notice mentions his mother Eva Black, and two brothers Leslie and Warren (and families) If anyone could help please email me offlist. The other friends I'm trying to track down are Robyn and Diane Prendergast who worked in Wellington NZ in 1966 - during the change over to Decimal Currency. We shared a house with three other Australians on working holidays in NZ at the time. We know the story of two of the other girls but the 6th is also 'missing' - Would love to hear from anyone knowing of the above. Thanks Ainslie

Yes, Trish, thanks I put that on some years ago ( had a different email address then).. Re the children, some of those you list are not the children of my g uncle and Bertha Welby, but you have given me dates that I did not have. I was hoping that some of the children of his 10 children were into research, as I do not have a lot of information about the marriages of David and Bertha's children. I do have a bookload of info about theirs and my, ancestors though, and the usual few brick walls. Thanks again, Trish Gloria Nth Qld ----- Original Message ----- From: "Trev Symonds" <psym8950@bigpond.net.au> To: <aus-nsw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 02, 2009 8:25 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-NSW] Rev David Turberville Smith > Gloria, > There is a submission on the Australian Virtual Immigration Wall of Honour > for David - > SMITH David Turberville, 1847 Coppice/Ettingshall Sedgley STS ENG, Baroda, > 1873, Sydney NSW > Contact - jarrahjones@dodo.com.au > Cheers > Trish > Nowra NSW > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Gloria Hargreave" <smith-thompson@bigpond.com> > To: <AUS-NSW@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, November 02, 2009 12:25 PM > Subject: [AUS-NSW] Rev David Turberville Smith > > >> Is anyone researching the family of this man.
