    3. I would like to sincerely thank all Listers who helped with my query re Edward. Because of the help offered and the Australian Medical Pioneers Index being made known to me, I am now much better informed re the doctor. The Editor of the AMPI did further research on Edward after I had given him his birth, parentage and native place details. Thanks to him and you all, I now know that he arrived in 1874 and had his wife with him. I have the vessel's name, also. So thank you all so much. I am truly grateful. Gloria

    3. Thanks so much for that. I have added to the information available on that wonderful Pioneers site. Edward was born in Dudley Worcs. in 1843 to a seriously wealthy family. I am wondering if he came out at the same time as my g g grandfather in 1873, with other Smith rellies and 9 STS families heding for the Ironworl\ks at Nattai. G G grandfather hopeful of having as much success as his uncle Richard had in Canada. I will check that passenger list. Thanks Trish. Gloria

    3. Dear Gloria The list at http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/AUS/AUS-NSW-ORANGE-DISTRICT.html might have more specialised knowledge of Carcoar than here. Dudley STS lies the The Black Country: http://www.sedgleymanor.com has a names research page. The people at http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-STS-SEDGLEY.html are friendly and helpful. 3. Thanks so much for that Terry. He has obviously left England after 1866. He was b. in 1843....well qualified for a 23 year old. Found him in Dudley in 1871. He probably came out ( paying his own way) a couple of years at least before his son was born in 1878. He was born in Sydney, so this is probably where Edward married. I just cannot fathom why there is no record of him until he goes to Cowra in the 1880's. Thanks again. Gloria

And shoot off an email to the Temora family history group, if they published the book they may have other records available to support the possible death in 1902. Both free of charge. It can get to be an expensive hobby if you have to pay for everything, so any way of documenting the story free-of-charge helps in sorting out all the branches on the tree. I have nearly everything about all my Smiths who came from the Sedgley/Coseley/Dudley areas of the 'Black Country', but Edward Roberts Smith info on his return fromAustralia remains a mystery...even the census show nought. but I really also want to know more about Amy de Courcey...and the time both spent in Carcoar. I will post a query to the Orange site Thanks so much . Gloria

    3. Hi Gloria, I am descended from the Smith family of Carcoar and Cowra, including Edward Smith born 1818 at Marylebone, England, but cannot find any connection with your Edward Roberts Smith. However, Carcoar and Blayney both have very active family history centres and may be able to help you. Perhaps there is some reference in the Blayney and/or Carcoar Pioneer Registers. Sorry I can't help you with their e-mail or on line details at the moment. Good luck.
