Esma, Sorry, no sighting of mother and son anywhere I've looked so far. Its possible he was placed for adoption and isn't known by his birth name. Its also possible the name is a pure fabrication. My mother's adopted brother was born (illeg.) in 1915 to Frances Violet FINCH. Trouble is, there's no such person. She had her baby at a private home for unmarried mothers and obviously used an alias, she left baby for adoption and disappeared. No one has ever been able to find out who she was or where she came from. There is a mention of Ruth HAYNES on the NSW State Archives, age 6 years, 4 March 1886, at Randwick Asylum. I couldn't find a corresponding birth for her around 1880.
