    3. Esma, Sorry, no sighting of mother and son anywhere I've looked so far. Its possible he was placed for adoption and isn't known by his birth name. Its also possible the name is a pure fabrication. My mother's adopted brother was born (illeg.) in 1915 to Frances Violet FINCH. Trouble is, there's no such person. She had her baby at a private home for unmarried mothers and obviously used an alias, she left baby for adoption and disappeared. No one has ever been able to find out who she was or where she came from. There is a mention of Ruth HAYNES on the NSW State Archives, age 6 years, 4 March 1886, at Randwick Asylum. I couldn't find a corresponding birth for her around 1880. 3. Hello Richard, All the service records for Australian WW1 soldiers are online for searching at the Australian National Archives - LOGIN as a GUEST, then enter his full name and years 1914-1918, and Search - http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/SuggestLogon.asp?K=SQLSERVER_ODBC_SERVER&R=Service%20not%20available%20[Microsoft][ODBC%20Driver%20Manager]%20Data%20source%20name%20not%20found%20and%20no%20default%20driver%20specified To see his full record, you next click onto the blue highlighted - View digital copy It shows that George Dean BOYD was born in Sydney, and his next-of-kin was his mother, Alice Rachel BOYD; his occupation is Stevedore. George's brother, James Edward BOYD, also enlisted in WW1. His papers show his father, James BOYD, died 19 February 1916; his mother was living at 211 Crown Street, Darlinghurst. The NSW BDM index, shows -] 1888 - Marriage of James BOYD to Alice R. WOODGATE, Sydney (cert no 772/1888) 1889 - Birth of George D. BOYD, parents James and Alice, in Sydney in 1889 (cert no 1465/1889). 1891 - Birth of James E. BOYD, b.1891, Sydney (1185/1891). 1916 - Death of James BOYD 1936 - Death of Alice Rachel BOYD, Randwick-Sydney, parents George/Ellen (16912/1942) 1942 - Marriage of Jamed Edward BOYD to Nita Florence FARMILO/TUTTIETT, Paddington-Sydney (1231/1942) 1964 - Death of James Edward BOYD, Auburn-Sydney (13544/1964) The Index shows two possible deaths for James BOYD in 1916 - son of Dean/Isabella (268/1916); and son of John/Amy B (445/1916). The first death is the most likely, as his father's name was Dean, which is son George's second name. Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, Matraville - 1936 - Alice Rachael BOYD, interred 14 August 1936, age 69, Location GA General FMA, Grave 519 There was no burial for James or James Edward BOYD at Eastern Suburbs cemetery or crematorium.
