    3. How interesting! I spend half my life in the old newspapers (via the link I gave to Ruth). Now I suppose I will be compelled to spend the remaining half in the other categories. When do I sleep???????? Think I'll start with Music, sound & video. Barbara

    3. Hello Everyone, I have been going through the electoral rolls found on Ancestry and I've found a family member Annie Victoria Alberta McDonald and her husband John McDonald on the 1943 roll in the subdivision of Orange. Their place of residence is given as 'Rogers Meat Coy' Johns occupation is foreman while Annie is doing home duties. I know that John was also a slaughterman so I imagine it is a slaughterhouse or butchers.... My question is does anyone know of 'Rogers Meat Coy' or where I might find more information? Kind regards Ruth

I've seen the original on microfiche and the name is clearly Clive. Someone who was not really concentrating on the job had misread the the original handwriting when it was transcribed onto the certified copy. 3. Hi Michelle I haven't seen any replies to look up request so thought I might be able to help you. I don't have access to the Glen Innes papers but if you pull up the State Library of NSW website and look down the side for the 'Ask A Librarian"....you can then email them and ask them to look it up for you. They have all the newspapers there and as you come from NZ it should not be a problem. I actually lived in Glen from 1989-2004. Cheers Annette in Cowra NSW

    3. Hi Kerrie My gg and g grandmother are both buried in pauper's graves at Rookwood in 1874 & 1897 respectively, although no strange entries were shown on the index, however when I rang Rookwood they said it was shown on the record that the grave of my gg grandmother stated "never to be opened". Both died of tuberculosis. So there may be some record on the original burial record that will help discover the strange notification, as you mentioned in your earlier email. There were no funeral notices for these ladies either. 3. Here is a reply which I got (on another board) to a query about the burial of a suicide - "If he was penniless or a pauper then a govt burial would have occurred in a public grave and if known in a RC area, but not in a family plot, unless he had the finances or his family had the finances to pay and were willing to pay. I f a govt burial then he'd be buried in the nearest cemetery to where he died and the undertaker would lodge 1 funeral notice. If family were paying they may have been embarrised by the situation and had a private burial thus no newspaper notices." Cheers Cheers
