Joan Hi all A new database on Ancestry A quick keyword search for Australia found 488 hits , 174 for New South Wales About Great Britain, Masters and Mates Certificates, 1850-1927 This database contains master and mate certificates issued to merchant seamen by the British Board of Trade. What You May Find in the Records Great Britain has long been known for its maritime prowess in both military and commercial spheres. The certificates and other documents included in this database were issued to merchant seamen who qualified as masters or mates aboard merchant ships. Records include certificates of competency, certificates of service, examination applications, and other documents. Forms vary, but they may include the following details: name certificate number birth date birthplace issue port issue date address examination date history of service (dates, vessels, occupations, years in service) Some of the information is included on the back of the certificates, and some documents in a seaman's folder have not been indexed, so when you find a record, use the arrows to browse surrounding documents to make sure you see all the records available. You may want to browse through an entire roll since the original folders were sometimes filed in random order. Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)

    3. Hi Joy/Hazel I've taken your advice and contacted the BDM to see if they can explain why I could never find the death/burial details of my Michael Byrne in 1827 in Sydney, maybe this is another example of the death being registered many years later for some reason or other?? It will be very interesting if they can offer some insight or advise for me, of course could be that his name has been spelt in such a way that I have never been able to find it as well, many variants on the spelling of BYRNE. Thanks for the tip re contacting the history experts at the BDM. Regards Dianna

On the BD&M site you can email their History experts for any help. There are a lot of family trees for Dangar on Ancestry, some with photo of Henry C Dangar. There is a Reginald Neville Dangar b 3 Sep 1869 Redleaf, Double Bay, NSW and died 4 June 1952 Guernsey, Channel Island. Married Beatrice Shailer Weston 10 Sep 1900 in Woollahra, NSW One child Elizabeth Mary Dangar 18 June 1901 Point Piper, NSW died 1 April 1966 Sydney. 3. Hi Josephine Thank you for your look ups and help. I do have the marriage for Alexander and Mary Ann Brazill which shows her parents were Patrick & Ann/Hannah McGrath who were married in Parramatta in 1855. Patrick was from Co Limerick and Mary Ann was born Parramatta. Yes, Sarah Jane was Mary Ann's sister who married into the Weaver family and I was hoping that there may be descendants who may have a photo of Alexander Stuart. Kind regards and thanks again. Joan in NSW Hi Joan The only record I can find is the registration no 3648 for Alexander & Mary Ann Brazill There is a Mary Ann Brazel (Note spelling) b 1872 Newcastle-On-Tyne Parents:-- Patrick Brazell 1826 Ireland 1899 UK Isabella Carse b1831 they had four (4) children No other information for this tree The only record is for a Sarah Jane Brazill married Thomas George Weaver at Orange 1890 Ref: No 5853 they had four (4) children. It might be Mary Ann sister. Regards Josephine Qld Hello Would any lister be researching and have knowledge of the above families please. My ggrandfather Alexander Stuart married [2nd m] to Mary Ann Brazill in 1895 in Orange after his first wife Mary Ann nee Elliot died. I am descended from the youngest daughter of Alexander's first marriage to Mary Ann Elliot.
