Thank you so much Nivard .. I will take a look .. regards Maree
Thank you Graeme .. I thought he might have died overseas also ... but, in the Trove SMH article for his sons' marriage .. it stated that the son was the eldest son and by giving the father's occupation .. it 'sounded' like they were living in Aus .. I think I will take a look at both options tho .. thanks again .. Maree
Hi all .. is there anyone who would be able to help me with a query please ? I have a Henry Loftus Richards marrying Louisa Merrite Bigge in 1841 NSW... Henry was the son of Capt. Richards of 71st Regt of Foot .. (he was dead by the time of Henry's marriage in 1841, and the Trove article I did find said Henry was the eldest son) ... but I cannot find anything else regarding him in Trove or on the NSW BDMs ... any help appreciated .. thanks so much regards Maree Larsen Hobart
Hi Maree When researching Officers of the British Army there are two resources well worth consulting The London Gazette for appointments, promotions and awards The Army lists many of which are available via www.archive.org (select texts) Both are free Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) >> Hi all .. >> >> is there anyone who would be able to help me with a query please ? >> >> I have a Henry Loftus Richards marrying Louisa Merrite Bigge in 1841 >> NSW... >> >> Henry was the son of Capt. Hi Maree Im not a Military expert but if my memory serves me right the 71st Regt of Foot never served in AU but they did serve in other 'Empire' Countries between 1815 and 1850 but it is more than likely your Capt. Richards served and died around 1815 (The 1st/71st lost 16 officers and 171 men killed and wounded at Waterloo) Graeme O On Wed 26/09/12 19:01 , [email protected] sent: > Hi all .. > > is there anyone who would be able to help me with a query please ? > > I have a Henry Loftus Richards marrying Louisa Merrite Bigge in 1841 > NSW... > > Henry was the son of Capt. Hi Roy We have been researching the aerodrome for quite a while now as we intend adding it to our Mount Druitt Education Kit. Also a few years back we had a number of enquiries from various people. We also have all of Fred Cowpe and the Unit Adjutant of No. 11 Repair and Servicing Unit, Flight Lieutenant Harold Stephenson drafted 1980. I am also tracing and documenting all of the WW2 aircraft crashes in our area and am making good progress. Good luck with your project. Hazel
Hi Listers I'm doing research about the RAAF Aerodrome that was located in Mt Druitt. It later became a racing car circuit and is now a sporting reserve. I just wondered if anybody has any connection or memories. The base was home in the 1940's to : * No. 13 Signals Unit RAAF * No. 1 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF * No. 2 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF (renamed to No. 2 Repair and Servicing Unit RAAF) * No. 6 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF * No. 11 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF * No. 14 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF * No. 18 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF Thanks for your time. Yours Roy Hurlstone
Hi Joan All I do know is he was at Rooty Hill about 1887 nothing else. Regards Hazel
Hi Hazel About what time period are you looking for the arrival of Thomas Bowring. On the AGCI index the only mention is a death at Cobar in 1913, no other date, held by SAG, whether this is your Thomas I don't know. The Ref for SAG is B7/11/240 page 6. On google there is a site for a Thomas Bowring, convict http://www.convictrecords.com.au/convicts/bowring/thomas/52693 Also other Thomas Bowring's. Cheers Joan Good morning I am hoping someone may have come across Thomas Bowring while researching. I have been trying to locate infromation on the genetleman for nearly 5 years and todate have only come up with the following: - He designed and built "Woodstock Fruit Cannery" at Plumpton for Walter Lamb and designed some of the equipment for the cannery. He also was the possible builder of Alroy House located today on Rooty Hill Road North, and had his house built on the corner of where Jersey Road meets Rooty Hill Road North. I have located most on this information on Trove but it is more family and his arrival in Australia I am trying to locate any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Most of the sources available I have checked but have not been able to locate further information. Thank you Hazel in Blacktown

Hello All, Just jumping in here on this topic...any information on certificates are as good as what the informant say's...or the person taking the information..I have many certificates with wrong infomation on them..even as late as 2010. I have a illgit child's birth 1936..mother noted her middle name as her Maiden name. [ thank you to the Scottish ways of using surnames as Christian names ]...then that child her self went on to marry..had one child..never div had another child [ we don't know who the father was ] then had three children to another chap and used his name and is buried under that name... Just makes one wonder then why the Privacy act is so stringent..when all is not verified....yes a huge task I know... Food for thought!! Wendy

My mother's birth certificate is straightforward - the short version, no father shown But on Mum's baptismal certificate, my grandmother gave her own name correctly but claimed it as her married name, invented a husband called John, and gave her maiden name as the surname of the man who was suspected of being the father. Though Gran never admitted it to anyone I feel that gives credence to the rumour Margaret -----Original Message----- From: Wendy Sent: Sunday, September 16, 2012 10:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-NSW] Error's on certificates Hello All, Just jumping in here on this topic...any information on certificates are as good as what the informant say's...or the person taking the information..I have many certificates with wrong infomation on them..even as late as 2010.
