    2.   Hello Richard, Have you tried the Lidcombe historical society? I am not all that far away ... at "Liberty Plains" in the old place names. So I might even be able to go past and tell you what's there now. Almost certainly however it will NOT be a farm. As "Developers" have discovered Sydney, it's suburbs, and now also all the Cumberland Plain west from Sydney to the Blue Mountains. And their preference is decidedly for things like "Twin 32 storey towers" and such-like. In fact the Olypmics people (at Homebush Bay) recently announced that they had "Broken their own record!". This however was not in running or jumping or suchlike but was about them having erected a new tower higher that all the others there - I think that was another one of about 30 storeys.    Wow! The Developers are not keen on farms and if one was found there (which it most unlikely anyway) it would be instantly developed into something else. The most likely place, I suspect, where a farm might have been to match what you are talking about would be .. I'd guess .. along the eastern flank of the Duck River. Probably no ducks left in it now though?   Not in Lidcombe/Auburn area .. but there are still ducks in it, I think, further downstream towards the Parramatta River. But DO try the local historical society. They are likey to have a better opinion than I am on the matter. So I had a look on Familysearch.org to see if he was there and it was a bit confusing as the Birthplace might be Potsmouth, but the district or parish are listed as Potsea & Landport and Kingstone & East Southsea.I would think that would make it a big area to search if you did not know who his parents. **This note was from the Robinson F/Tree Jane was born before her parents were married. On her birth certificate it states that her father John Robinson's native place was Portsmouth. The nurse witness to the marriage was Mary Niblett.** Note If you go by the son John Marriages Certificate that John was still alive on the day of the marriage 22 Dec 1897 and them going by son Samuel Marriage cert. He had pass away by 7 Dec 1898 so you have a year to search. Note This is what was written on the Robinson F/tree ***At the time of John's marriage to Elizabeth Hillier in December 1897, John Robinson Senior was described on the marriage certificate as being a farmer, so was still living at that date. ***At the time of Samuel Robinson's marriage to Johannah Merriman in Dec 1898, the marriage certificate states that his father John Robinson was deceased** There are about 4 or 5 family trees but the other one I looked at is The Young Family Tree, who said that John was born in England c1830 and died 1874 Gunning. NSW but this must be incorrect. Does this mean if we find a record of a baptism etc in a film or book we have requested at our local family history centre then we can order a copy? I am assuming it doesn't mean records found atfamilysearch.org.<<< Robyn, I sent off a request for a record I found on familysearch.org....hadn't heard anything until today, when I had a note to say: " We cannot process your request without a full name, address and telephone with EACH request you make. Please supply us that information. Also, please go to the internet at: familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Photoduplication_Services to access the procedure for submitting requests. Thank you." I've had a look at the very helpful pages from the wiki, and went to the catalogue, but none of the film numbers I put in had been digitised.....as yet!!! This is an interesting paragraph... " If you go to familysearch.org, click on "Catalog" and enter the film or book number, you can check to see if it is digitized. If so, you can print off your own copies. If the film or book has been digitized, we will not fill a request as you can do this on your own." Hope this helps, looks like it's going to get easier to obtain records.....and they are free. I have given Gunning area a good search, I found Sarah's headstone in Gunning it is very old & the grave has sunk in one corner & no mention of John being buried with her. Where does it say John is from Portsmouth??? Is it a certificate that says John was deceased when Samuel was married. I have the Marriage certificate of John & Elizabeth & it shows John & Sarah are both alive. i didn't know some of the other details of the family so it is good to have these, thanks so much. I have received scanned images from Trove but there are no new leads on John as to where he may have died or anything else. So I am back to square one. I may get a film in from the Mormans on Portsmouth & see if I can find his baptism I guess this is the next thing to do. has anyone else out there done this? 3. Please excuse my late reply... But my most sincere thanks go to Christine, David, Marg and Vicki who took the time and effort to follow up my Ancestor. Clarence George Fry. Clarrie passed away, age 40... but what he did in those 40 years was amazing... The son of a Blacksmith, in a small country town, smack bang in the middle of South Australia, he was a WW1 Digger, and after his return to South Australia, he became a concert pianist, who performed in England, Europe and United States. Such an interesting (but very short) life. Once again, Many Thanks.... Chris Pycroft (nee GWYNNE) Port Augusta, Sth Aust

    3.   Hi Sue   Not sure if you are aware that Mr Sibert was in Forbes NSW for a brief time in 1881.  I found the following while looking for some items for that year.   SIBUT(?) Charles Alfred, photographer, Forbes (CBC Apr 1881)   SIBERT, Mr, took a partner in photography, Mr Vosper, and leased the premises lately occupied by Mr Camfield Baker.  (Fbs/Pks Gaz 27 May 1881) SIBERT and VOSPER dissolved their partnership after three weeks, leaving the business to Mr Sibert.  Mr Roulston, photographer, and the firm Vosper & Co have settled in premises opposite the Royal Hotel.  (Fbs/Pks Gaz 24 June 1881).   Hope this helps.   I'm sure that Forbes Family History Group would be interested in any more information you can give about the story / career of Mr Sibert.   Cheers   Jean

    2. Hi Jo, Thanks for all your help but I would like to know where you found your info on all the details of the family that you sent. Better go Ann. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 7:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: AUS-NSW Digest, Vol 8, Issue 37 Today's Topics: 1. 3. Hi Ann There are two main cemeteries in Coffs Harbour. The Historic Cemetery in town and the lawn cemetery at Karangi. The lawn cemetery is online at Australian Cemeteries Index . If you can't find information on the other cemetery cotact the Coffs Harbour Council. Jean

    3. Hi all, I am currently researching the movements and life of Charles Alfred Sibert , a travelling photographer around NSW in the period between 1870 and 1910. What started off as an attempt to date a family photo with a Sibert stamp on the back, has turned into a fully blown research project - so interesting is his life! I have made contact with a number of Historical Societies ( I am a member of Mudgee Historical Society) and various museums/libraries. My intention is to provide a copy of my research to any Historical Societies who may be interested as it may help provide some more details for anyone who is trying to date their Sibert photo. His obit in the Windsor and Richmond Gazette states he was a Londoner and born about 1830 ( died 1908 in Mudgee). The earliest i have found any information about him is in 1871 - he is in Graytown Victoria ( news item in Victorian Police Gazette) but interestingly there are also unclaimed letters addressed to him in Mudgee in the same year. The earlier photographic stamps show him as "CA Sibert, travelling photographer, Melbourne". I am interested if there is anyone who may have any C A Sibert photos in their collection that may place him at a known place at a certain time. ( or who may be able to suggest resources- other than "the Mechanical Eye", "Australians Behind the Camera: Directory of Australian Photographers 1842-1945", Trove, and directories/gazettes available thru Ancestry and Findmypast - that I can access to fill out the details of his movements) Cheers Sue

3. Hi Listers, One of my cousins has just sent me a copy of The Western Age Newspaper, published in Cobar, dated Wednesday 17 November 1915. It was found amongst my grandfather's belongings and contained a letter he wrote home from Gallipoli which his parents had published in their local newspaper. Anyway, there is a Memoriam Notice on the same page, which I am sending to the List in case it belongs to anyone here - I haven't located a birth for John CLEMENT in New South Wales and have no idea either who he is, or who Lillian GAVIN of Lithgow is. Cheers Trish Nowra NSW THE WESTERN AGE, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1915 (Vol 5, No 506) IN MEMORIAM - CLEMENT - In loving memory of my dear friend, Jack Clement, who died at Cobar, November 15th, 1912. Oh death often comes to show us, We love more dearly than we know; But love in death should make us see, What love in live should always be. Not a second disturbs your slumber, Not a care to mark your brow; All your pains and trials are over, You are happy resting now. Inserted by his true friend, Lillian Gavin, Lithgow. >From the NSW BMD Index, John CLEMENT was the son of John and Nora, Cobar (15175/1912).
