Hello List, This is my first post and I am doing it on behalf of a friend/researcher in Nth Ireland. I will quote from her email to me below: ".....I have a little problem where you might be able to help. Looking for details of a William Rutherford, who died in Ayr, Queensland in 1926 (we think). Anxious to verify date of death, and find cause of death, as he was only 28 years old. Apparently he had gone out ahead of his wife and family, to find a job, intending to send for them later. About a year later the family was packing up to go out to join him when they got news that he had died suddenly. A sad story...." As none of my relatives ventured to Queensland I do not have the knowledge necessary to help Pat. Could SKS look up the death index for the 1920's (if one exists) and give me the reference number so I can order his death certificate please? I presume all deaths were registered and lodged in Brisbane? Is there an index of local newspaper deaths in Ayr for the 1920's? If one wanted to order copies of an inquest to a death, how would one go about it in Queensland?
