Hello Ros, I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that our John Maher was referred to as both John Maher and John Clark at different times. In the Catholic Church baptismal records for his children to Anne Jane Toohey McPherson, he has been recorded as John Maher-Clark. Perhaps the church knew something we have not been able to find out???
