Hello Amanda I checked the Charters Towers burial listings, you're right, no Maud Lake on the list. There is also, as you say, a headstone with Maud Lake on it, died 4/3/1954 aged 93 years. >From a Charters Towers perspective that's about as far as you'll get. I'd head for microfilms of the Northern Miner for that period. You will find those at James Cook Uni in Townsville, not sure about Brisbane. I doubt if they're available in Charters Towers though. The CT and Dalrymple FHA certainly does not have films of that period. Sorry I can't be of more help.
