I hope there is something for you! The Odrest FHS, Family History Detective, The Tiem Machine and Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Soiciety have all recently joined the Parish Chest on www.parishchest.com, one of the largest one stop genealogy shops I know of. Not so long ago I reviewed a site containing information on Great Harwood. I have since received an email from the siteowner saying how pleased he was with the review, but more importantly he was sayingt that he would love to hear from anyone with information, particularly genealogical on Great Harwood, which he can add to the site. Those of you who have subscribed for a whiel will know I am keen on this type of website – and way of sharing onformation, so if you have any information, email Ian on ifinwig@blueyonder.co.uk NEW BOOKS AND CD’s I received this press release recently: HtmlPedigree A set of demonstration web pages is available here: http://www.htmlpedigree.com/tudors/index.htm The key difference from existing programs is the use of very flexible interactive chart pedigrees for navigation, and for the display of family groups. The program is also designed to make site maintenance as easy as possible - for example, bookmarks should remain valid when the site is updated, and only files that have changed are rewritten, to make uploading quicker. There are also many options for the user to customise the appearance and content of the web pages. More information, and a free trial version for download, are available here: http://www.htmlpedigree.com/ The free trial version is slightly disabled. If you'd like me to send you a registration key to make it easier to evaluate or demonstrate the program, please let me know, and I'll be happy to do so. Archive CD Books homepage - http://www.archivecdbooks.com WEBPAGE REVIEWS http://www.geocities.com/clanpeacock/ This website, calling itself Clan Peacock, is in reality a family history of the Peacock name in Scotland. Where it differs from a lot of websites pertaining to a single family is that there are a lot of resources on this site for the Peacock name in general. On the site I found indexes to Scottish Peacock Births, Deaths and marriages, as well as information on all sorts of people, from murderers to law abiding citizens! It is a nice website, easy to move around and containing some very useful information, my only quibble is the blue of the background which could make the text hard to read in places http://tassellone.orcon.net.nz/ A nice little website with some information on the Tassell surname. It’s a bit of a shame there is not more information, as the site really needs expanding a bit. At the moment on the website there is a basic introduction to the name, and two indexes to look at – entries in the Vicar General Marriage Index and Tassell wills and probate. Both of these are on line and are very easy to search, but it would be a lot nicer if there were more indexes. Quick to load and easy to lok at this is a good basic site. http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/bucks_prisoners/index.htm I loved this site, but mainly because I found an ancestor in it! My own family history aside this site provides a quick, and easily searchable database of prisoners at Aylesbury Gaol . The database contains names of prisoners entering the jail in the 1870’s and if you are lucky (I was) there will be a photograph as well. Imagine seeing the prison photograph of one of your ancestors! It also give the sentence, birth place, crime (Stealing a Shirt!) and sometimes more information. You can search by first name, surname, place of birth or residence, so all those doing local histories in Bucks can find there notorious criminals! An excellent site! Well worth a visit. Her husband was James whom I`ve been told by grandma was a canal haulier, though whether he owned his business or worked for someone else I don`t know. Grandma had a brother George who went to Canada, and two sisters whose husband were in the canal business, one a lock-keeper for I remember him as a child. I have a photo of gt-grandma taken about 1905 if anyone of that name in Brewood is interested in seeing it. Also another of a young girl whom aunt said was grandma but it doesn`t look a lot like the other pic that I know was grandma. Wonder if this young girl was her mother Jane Brockhurst, but need someone who knows about the ages of Victorian costume and changing facial looks to assist me! If anyone can help with a bit more info. I`d be grateful, and if I can help anyone (I live in S. Staffs) I will. Best wishes. CollieHo@aol.com I have a letter from my grandfather, James Knight Rebbeck, to my future grandmother, Emilie Caroline Elisabeth "Lili" d'Abbadie, that though he is British and living in Hong Kong in 1888 and she is French and living in Tonkin (present-day Viet Nam) he has been to both consulates in Hong Kong and made their marriage as legal as if it were performed in England or France. And yet I can find no record of it. The ceremony was performed 21 May 1888 in Hong Kong. Any advice? Thank you. Judy Rebbeck Watten RayjudyW@aol.com am seeking information on Abraham George Isaac Adams and his 7 children. They lived in Southwark and Camberwell. He was married to Jane? Children were John Isaac born 16 June 1816 who travelled to New Zealand and died in 1898, my gr grandfather, Elizabeth Hanna born 3 October 1819, Jane born 29 April 1821, Abraham George born 26 August 1823, Thomas Richard born 1 May 1825, William Henry born 21 April 1827 and Charles Samuel born 4 July 1829.
