    3. Hello list I am helping my sis in law get started with her family history. We live in Newcastle NSW. She is beginning with her parents- Alexander William SPARKS/SPARKES - she thinks he was born in Ivanbank, North Qld on 25 December abt 1908 (she doesn't know where Ivanbank is) Gladys May THOMASON'/THOMPSON -not sure of her birthplace but date 12 November 1922 in Qld Their marriage abt 1942-4 in Qld - could be 12 November. Alexander is believed to have been married previously to a lady named Wilhelmina Alex and Gladys moved to NSW, as he was in the services. Could anyone help with 'where to go' to find info on this family? Regards Gwen

    3. Hello Gwen, Thanks to wonderful David Leslie for kindly responding and tremendously enriching my knowledge of the Cairns area [I also have ancestral "beginnings" in Newcastle, Cairns, Thursday Island and Darwin]. http://www.athertontableland.com/region2.gif Here's hoping Irvinebank [Ivanbank?] is the missing link needed to help you towards your ancestor(s). Good 'hunting' to you and your sister-in-law. Regards, --manaia (USA) ___ === On Tue, 16 Nov 2004 "David and Cheryl Leslie" <leslieslegends@bigpond.com> wrote: Maybe Irvinebank? Then again, it might not be the town you are looking for.
