Thanks to everyone who replied re my query about WW1 enlistments. I have successfully looked up deaths by place of enlistment on the AWM database, thanks James. My problem is that I don't have particular names to look up. My starting point is the place, eg Cloncurry, and I was hoping to find all the names of men who enlisted there. I did start by noting all the Queensland battalions etc. and going through the related enlistment fiches but there are hundreds of them, so I was rather hoping there was a specific database or some type of record for enlistments by place rather than by name or military unit.
