Subject: Re: Lone Graves Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2000 14:47:28 +1000 From: "Mark Bradshaw" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> References: 1 Hi Jim On a cattle station named Buckingham Downs between Mt Isa and Boulia 90 miles each way is the property I was talking about the other day, on this property is three graves, one grave holds the body's of seven unamed white men who were speared and club to death by a aboriginal tribe named the Kalkadoon's ( not sure of correct spelling ) this took place I think in the year 1878 or 1887 not sure, anyhow the white locals from this area went and hunted down this tribe in that area and killed them all except for one little boy he was the last left and the mananger or owner said save him i'll rear him up which he did and named him Carbine, he died I think about 1954, he is buried not far from the station homestead, also on this station is a grave beside a windmill it was told to me that a pully block fell down and hit him on the head and killed him, his grave is not far from the windmill once again I think he is unamed, his grave is almost unreckonizable today and i'm going back 20 years from last time I seen it, his grave is not far from the main road talking in hundreds of metre's only, this grave is about 30 miles from the homestead, I like these old stories and history, anyhow will catch you up later. Regards Mark P/s would be interesting to see if these people have the above listed in their files " bet not" ----- Original Message ----- From: James Crighton <[email protected]> To: Mark Bradshaw <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, June 12, 2000 7:03 PM Subject: Lone Graves > Hi Mark, > Looks like some one has beaten us to it but maybve we could do an update > version > http://www.macbeth.com.au/fiche/qld.html#cemetery > > Cheers > Jim > Cheers Jim in Toowoomba
