Kay, Try http://www.awm.gov.au/database/roh.asp and insert your place name on the first search field. Be aware that any mention of a similar name will bring up an entry. I was looking for Port Macquarie enlistments, and got Lake Macquarie, surnmaes of Macquarie etc. Ian. - --------------------------------------------------- Click here for Free Video!! http://www.gohip.com/free_video/ ----- Original Message ----- From: Kay Cohen <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2000 10:34 PM Subject: WW1 enlistments > Thanks to everyone who replied re my query about WW1 enlistments. I have successfully looked up deaths by place of enlistment on the AWM database, thanks James. My problem is that I don't have particular names to look up. My starting point is the place, eg Cloncurry, and I was hoping to find all the names of men who enlisted there. I did start by noting all the Queensland battalions etc. and going through the related enlistment fiches but there are hundreds of them, so I was rather hoping there was a specific database or some type of record for enlistments by place rather than by name or military unit. Thanks again to everyone. > Kay Cohen > [email protected] com.au > > > ==== AUS-NQ Mailing List ==== > To search previous messages to the List, point your browser to - > http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=aus-nq >
