I have had a request for assistance from Sally Harrison of Wangaratta Vic.Can some kind soul help with suggestions how she could get the Cert she needs, The Qld Archives are all Greek to me :-) Her request follows.......... Just in case you have not realized, I am still doing family history and research for all sorts of other projects and people. I am writing to ask if you would be able to procure a copy of a marriage certificate from Bowen Qld. I have been writing a history of the Anglican Cathedral in Wangaratta and the first resident minister was one Rev. Cooper Searle. According to my research on his family, his daughter Sarah Ellen Searle was married to John William Greaves on the 2nd August 1864 at the Church of England in Bowen, Qld. The aforesaid Rev. Cooper Searle became the priest at Bowen in 1866. I would be very interested to have a full copy of this marriage certificate, as I believe it would shed some light on other facts about the family. I don't know if it is possible to obtain this certificate from the Church at Bowen or whether you would have to send for it via the Queensland Archives.
