Nancy I don't if this is any help but in Pioneers and Settler FarNQ pre 1920 there is one submission for Ryan. Ryan Margaret Christina B24 Oct 1874 Jondaryn Qld par Patrick James and Ellen Georgina Daley mar Edward Priestley 11 Mar 1889 Registry Office Georgetown. issue Edward b 18 Nov 1890 Normanton Qld, Margaret 6 April 1891, Maria Amelia b 29 Dec 1892 and Henry William b 6 Jan 1885. There are about 16 Ryans in the Eacham Electoral 1920 but no matches on names given. This area is the Greater Atherton Tablelands. As far as a WW1 camp in Cairns, I don't think so as my relations went to Townsville to sign on then onto Brisbane for training but I could be wrong.
