An update is available from http://www.mudcreek.ca/ John McKinney has provided some instructions about using the programme. Well here is a short lesson Upon downloading you will have a file called mudgv004.exe. If you do not know where it is do a "FIND" from the start button. Just type in mudgv004.exe at the search prompt and your computer will find it for you. This is a self extracting executable, you can run it by double clicking on it's icon or navigate to it through "RUN" at the start button. You will be taken through the install process. If you are not familiar with the install process, just accept the default settings by just clicking the next and finish buttons. Now you will have the program installed on our machine and there will be a menu item at the start button in programs under MudCreek, just click on the GenViewer and you are in. Once you are in you will see to the left, under Directory, the presidents.ged, just click on it once and information will show up to the right. Click on the individual tab and you will see President Clinton's individual information, under the family tab you will see his marriage to Hil. with their parents and child, on to pedigree and so on. To open your own gedcom file just navigate to it with the explorer above the presidents.ged to the left, just find your file, highlight it and click the open button. You are now looking at your own gedcom. Hopefully it is more interesting than Slick Willey's. And from the Moderator, Luc Comeau GENViewer is in a BETA stage in order to find problems with features as well as problems with documentation. I will be adding downloading/installing directions on the web site very soon. There is a user manual with the program after you have installed GENViewer. I know that documentation is lacking at this point - I've been focused on finishing features in the program instead of writing instructions. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. You can send them directly to me at [email protected] I know that we can work out any problems you are having. Also, I ask for your patience at this stage of development of GENViewer. I still have lots to do to get to version 1.0 (ie., features and documentation). MudCreek Software only has one employee - me. Bryan A Curran Hamilton, NZ
