Hello Ellen I have a copy of the book Pioneers & Settlers Register Far North Qld 1920 and did a search for Ryan and MacLeod. There is a Ryan, but no names matched. The information in this book was contributed by descendants, so you would have to be very lucky to find out anything about your family. The son Edward would appear in the State Archives Register of teachers, someone might be able to help you with that. There is a Cairns and District Family History Society, PO Box 5069 Cairns Queensland 4870 Australia. They would have the BDM for the area, and lots of other information that might help you.
