The other creek flowing into the Daintree near there is Strewart's Creek. I'm not sure of the name origin, settlement of the Daintree area was generally after the establishmint of COOKTOWN, as related to the Palmer River gold rushes of the 1870's. There were some cedar cutters in the Mossman and Daintree valleys early on, but farming followed some time after your date of 1871. Best Wishes Phillip MURPHY
