I am looking for a Captain Elwell who was a friend of my father's (ARMSTRONG) family in the 1930's in Cairns. He was apparently a retired British serviceman who chose to live in Australia after the end of WWI. He used to visit my father and his siblings and recite poetry and teach them elocution for fun. He was said to have lived at Applethorpe and was also good friends of the Atkinson family of Gunnawarra Station and the Clarke family (Dawn and Laurel) of Cairns. I have had no success finding any trace of him using the above information. I would like to hear from anyone who may know of him or the families he associated with. He was apparently a good writer and was writing a story about the Atkinson's which he would read to my father's family when he had a new chapter. I also suspect he wrote most of the poems he taught the children as I cannot find authors for them. He played a big part in my father and sibling's childhood. They all have good memories of him and some can still recite poems he taught them way back then. Many thanks Narelle
