Hi List, we see many posting from list members for information covering lots of different aspects of early settlement in Nth Queensland may I suggest that "if" you can borrow the publication called "A Thousand Miles Away" by G C Bolton from your local library you will find heaps of information for example Explorers, Overlanders, 1861-70 Prospectors, 1865 - 80, Planters, Squatters, Mining Men, Pacific Islanders, Growth of a Community etc. Be warned the book has been out of print for some time now and some libraries will only allow borrowing for research if this is the case you will spend many days "researching" in the library I found it hard to "put down" and it has 300 plus pages but it was worth the read every page of it.
