Hi All I am researching a side of my family that has some connection with Nth Qld I am interested in a LOUISA EMILY HERBERT she was born about 1872 According to her brothers cert her parents were married at Cleveland Bay 12/07/1871 I have not been able to locate any entry in birth registers around that time.or marriage either. I did however stumble on a Emily Louisa Herbert born 18/01/1872 ''On the Herbert River" No father shown, mother Jane Emily Herbert. I suspect this is her. LOUISA EMILY HERBERTs father as from her marriage cert is a FREDERICK HERBERT born Gibraltar 1841 My question is does any one know of the history of the name for Herbert River, I beleive there was a Governor Herbert in early QLd Can any one suggest other area I might find more info? I know that Louisa Emily moved to Victoria at age 17, would she have gone by boat? anyway to check? Thanks for any info Regards Paul Gage
