    1. Re: Charters Towers around 1890
    2. Hello list My GGrandfather's 2 sisters' husbands owened several gold mining leases in Charters Towers with others. I have a copy of one mining lease from state archives in Brisbane. (Thomas CHRISTIAN, Louis HAMANN, George Maurice JEVERS??,William JEVERS??, Friederich BANDHOLZ, Frederick PFIEFFIR, Thomas MILLS senior, Johan ROMBERG, Carls RIEDRICH, & Christian PARADIES) Some of the names are hard to read. Christian PARADIES is my line. After some other changes in owners the lease was sold to DAY DAWN Gold Mining Company on 30/9/1881. >From our map the mine appears to be bordered by School st., Mills st., Paul st., & Towers St. I would be very interested in some early mine photo's. My direct family line was Hermann BIRR who moved from Charters Towers to Ingham, Halifax area in early 1900's. Any information would be appreciated. Derek
