    1. William and Jane ORR.& John Richardson Mcwilliam and his wife, Janet nee ORR.
    2. Jill Glover
    3. Hello everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me with info. about the above families during their time in the Rockhampton area. William and Jane ORR were married in Scotland, and came to Victoria I'm told, with their six children, Jane b 1834., Margaret b. 1836, James b 1838, Janet b.1841, Thomas and William ,1843 in about 1854/50. I think all born in Scotland, but I'm not sure about William. There was a son, John, born here also, but could be in Victoria. Would someone with access to Q'ld records please be able to do a look-up for me, and see if John ORR were born here? William ORR was the first to take up land at Laurel Bank, in the Rockhampton District, it's about 8 miles from R'hampton, and the site of the first ever boiling down works. He sold it in 1868, and moved to Ayrshire Park, where the family resided for many years. This property subsequently became the property of their son, John ORR, who was a member of the Gogango Divisional Board. William ORR went to Broken Hill. Janet ORR married John Richardson MCWILLIAM. I am also very interested in his life and times in R'Hampton. He was involved with the cricket and rowing in the 1860's. He was also on the committee when the first School of Arts was built. From a book, "The Early History of R'hampton", I gather he was also involved in retail shops, one called Messrs Younger and M'William, in Bolsover Street. Another might have been managed by a son, Mr. T.M.W.McWILLIAM, was with Messrs Walter Reid and Co., R'Hampton. If anyone has any knowledge of the ORR and MCWILLIAM families in Rockhampton, and access to any BDM's, I would be delighted to hear from you, with news or links to sites that might help. Mr. John Richardson McWILLIAM married at the Agricultural Reserve home of William ORR, in July 1866. I am looking for a birth of a Thomas Moore William McWilliam, in 1866/67. Two daughters, Jeanie and Anna were also born in Queensland .John Richardson had left Rockhampton by 1874, he moved to NSW, and the rest of his family were born there. I'm wondering if someone could tell me the names of some of the Presbyterian Schools in Rockhampton in the early 1870's? I would appreciate any help or guidance you can give me, Many thanks and best wishes, Jill .

Jews have written yizkor (or memory) books throughout history to memorialize the dead. After the Holocaust, European Jews revived the practice. Their books tell the histories--often stretching back decades or centuries--of decimated communities. Many of the books contain photos and necrologies, or lists of Holocaust victims. 3. As a new lister, I'm sad to see that I missed out on having details of my N Qld pioneer families, KROPP and SINCLAIR from Thursday Island and Townsville included in this register. Perhaps SKS who buys the book will be prepared to look for their names for me. I'd be happy to return the favour. I'm in the NSW Northern Rivers area though, with only my local FHS research rooms to search, not near the archives or a major library.
