Received this and thought I would pass it on, For Your Information. Hi, We are pleased to advise that there is a new free Australian search engine and directory dedicated to genealogy and history. Our objective is to provide an extensive resource of Australian and related International sites. We will list not only popular sites, but those that are a bit obscure and hard to find which may contain missing pieces of information valuable to the researcher. In addition, we offer a free submission service to all, and encourage family tree, personal pages and other genealogy related web sites. The search engine Search Whatever Australia is at: http://www.searchwhateveraustralia.com.au We would appreciate it if you could advise your members of this free resource. Please note that your email address was obtained from your web site and will not be retained. If you wish to be included in our free newsletter mailing list, please visit our site and subscribe. Alternatively, just reply to this email. Thank you, Jim Hammond webmaster@whateveraustralia.com.au

Derek, the Post Office Directory 1906 is being transcribed by Belinda of Gladstone. You can appreciate it is a tedious process, and as she completes a couple of towns, she posts it to a mailing list. I pick it up from the Genanz mailing list, and with permission from Belinda forward it to the Nth Qld and FHANQ lists. I can only suggest you wait until she does the towns you are interested in, sorry. I will continue to forward her postings as they appear on Genanz. Carolyn > Carolyn > Can you help with Qld Post Office lookup for Charters Towers,Ingham, > Halifax, Macknade. I am looking for BURR, BIRR, or BERR > > thanks > Derek >

Thank you for the interesting list. It was great to see my gg grandfathers name in the Mount Pleasant list. Mt Pleasant is a pretty valley in the Dayboro area, the local hall committee have produced a very good local history of the area. Most of the names in the list are in the book. John and list I have a book I purchased at Yeppoon, Qld. early this year: "Livingstone: A history of the Shire of Livingstone" As I said in an earlier email tonight, Ogmore is in the Livingstone Shire, although it seems to me to be on the boundary with another shire. In the index there is some references to Ogmore. If Helene Shepherd could provide more details...year of death...name of deceased...who knows what I could find for her with a look-up in the book? Broadsound Shire....I think the headquarters for that is St. Lawrence? I also have a book on that "The Broadsound Story" by Frank Rolleston. It is not indexed but with a name...I'd be happy to have a look through it. Di R. I don't really know. I do know, however, that Ogmore is in the Livingstone Shire and Yeppoon Council - on the coast from Rockhampton has records. It would give more insight, John, if Helene Shepherd, told the list the name and date of death of the person who died at Ogmore. I think Ogmore is on the boarder of the Broadsound Shire, also?
