If Ipswich Library has a copy of the book you are seeking the relevant information will be there, and it is a large Library. Further STENLAKE information later. Audrey.

    3. Hi Audrey, Would you have ISBN numbers for those books you cited and I will endeavour to obtain them through my library. Pictures are a glaring shortfall in my research efforts. I have not persued Albert's father William Henry STENLAKE yet as he came from Devon. His wife Kate Emma MORRIS is my Great Grand Aunt. Albert had 4 sisters and a brother. Stenlake is definately not a common name anywhere which makes research quicker, but I have not proceeded to delve at this stage. I have done alot of WW1 research and when I saw the link to Frederika her surname lept off the microfiche because given the proximity of the marriage to the end of the Great War it was a bold move back then I think to marry someone with even a remotely German name, given the treatment some Europeans must have endured during the war years. Do you have much light to shed on that connection? Hope to hear from you. Cheers Peter Perth WA. ----Original Message----- From: Audrey Maher <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, September 10, 2000 1:00 PM Subject: Schmidt - Rocky >Hi Peter, >Yes, Frederika W SCHMIDT who married Albert W STENLAKE on 28 June 1919 is one of the SCHMIDT family I am researching. >I have JTS Bird book. 3. Thanks Ian, this lady(my gggrandma) is being a regular pain in the tush...would you be able to look in the burials to see if she is listed as Maude Douglas. I would really appreciate it. The problem is she never married my ggrandma's father and ggrandma's birth was never registered. I have ggrandma's death certificate saying her mother was Maud Morgan and her marriage cert. saying her mother was Maud Douglas. And i can't find anything anywhere on her. No other children's birth registered under these names or deaths. I thought when i found the MI that i was finally onto something....which i could be seeing as this mystery woman wasn't buried as a Lake. Problem is that my ggrandma died aged 25 in 1925 and as far as i know was the only child to this couple...so who would have put the name Lake on a headstone for this lady? Was there another child? Sorry for dribbling on,,,i'm sure there is just one more piece of the puzzle to make this fall into place, if only i can find it. Thanks, Amanda ---------- From: Ian Hodkinson <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: help in Charters Towers please Date: Saturday, 9 September 2000 17:21 Hello Amanda I checked the Charters Towers burial listings, you're right, no Maud Lake on the list. 2. Judy Webster
    3. In case you haven't already heard the good news... the Qld Minister for Health has advised: "Qld Health has decided to apply a 'restricted access period' of 100 years to the Dunwich/Eventide records... all [Dunwich] records on which the date of last action is pre-1900 will immediately be returned to open access at the State Archives, with later records progressively becoming 'open access' records with the passage of time. Access to records which remain 'restricted access' records may still be sought under the Freedom of Information Act 1992, or under the mechanism in the Libraries and Archives Act 1988, whereby an agency can approve access to restricted records held at the State Archives, for the purposes of legitimate research of the types to which you referred in your letter (i.e., social history or medical, academic or legal research)." I am not quite sure what 'immediately' means. Before trekking out to Qld State Archives to use the records, you may want to phone to check that they are actually back in the Search Room. Putting thousands of index cards back into drawers is not something that can be done in five minutes!
