    3. Hi everyone, I hope that you can forgive me for doing a blanket search, only I do not know which part of Australia PERCY SPOONER went to so I felt it best to try to cover as much ground as possible. My name is June Spooner and I am researching the name of the man above. Percy was born in approx., 1883-5 in Nottingham, England, He was born in the Edwin St., St. Ann's Well Road area and his parents were. George Spooner and Fanny Ward. Unfortunately, after leaving England for Australia, nothing much was ever heard from Percy and so contact was lost. If anyone has any information on him I would be most obliged if you would contact me. My best wishes to you all over there in the warm weather >From June in a very cold and snowy Ontario.

PARISH REGISTERS IN NEW ZEALAND: A List of Originals, Transcripts Microforms & Indexes of New Zealand Parish Registers, by Bruce Le Grange GARNER, published November 2000. A survey of parish registers in New Zealand has not been published until this listing was completed. This edition lists more than 1,000 entries and the records of more than 15 religious denominations. These are vital records because civil registration by law of births did not start until 1848, whereas church records of baptisms began as early as 1815. Registration of European marriages commenced in 1854. Maori marriages commenced in 1911. Registrations of births did not begin until 1913, so the church register record will often be the only one that exists. 2. Thais
    3. Hi group, I have a couple of questions that someone maybe able to help me with. Firstly, I was wondering if anyone had any information on Goodna records. A relative claimed that she was born there around 1865. There is no record of her in the Qld. BDM's so I thought that there might be a church record. Would anyone be able to advise even though I know that this is not NQ the family did move up there later on. Does anyone know anything about the Remilton family that owned the Kuranda Hotel around the mid 1920's? Does anyone have any contact to the Loeven family of North Queensland? Any help would be most appreciated. Thais Hardman Melbourne.

I am looking for : CORBETT, Philip James b. 11th.January 1888 in Ireland - (don't know the parish or County) who migrated to America (New Jeresey) at a young age. (maybe with parents - but it is thought possibly not) His parents were: Michael CORBETT married to Theresa CAHILL (could be in the 1880's or earlier - as it is not known if he had any siblings, and if so, did they remain in Ireland or immigrate also). In Queensland the Church of the Latter Day Saints has a set(or sets) of Ireland records, which is (are) rotated between their Church Libraries. It is outside Brisbane until the end of April and I would have to wait for it to come back. I've been told, I wouldn't have to search each county individually, but look up the name (and Philip hopefully not being as common as the usual Patricks, Michaels, James and Thomas's) may only turn up a few to follow up. I believe his Parish and County would be shown, but possibly not his parents names, but I feel having the birth date, which is relatively recent and will be in Civil Registers as well as Church records (Christening)is a bonus. I would be most grateful for any help in this direction, or any advice anyone has to offer. Thanks also to Trevor - Vic. rootsweb re The Corbett Study Group. TIA Margaret Simson, Brisbane. Aust.
