Peter was also known as Nils Petter Lundberg and Peter Lunberg. I know that Peter was in Cairns circa 1886 engaged in the timber trade with his boat the "Sea Breeze". TIA Judy.

    3. Hi every-one We all nearly have the unknown in our tree - this is mine - my great grandfather. Carl first appears at his marriage to Henriette Marie Augusta WESCHE on 19 Nov 1896 in Mackay. Little is known of him, where he was from, how he got here, but he certainly was here. Buried in Mackay, but his descendants are world wide. I have contracted a researcher to try to follow this one, but he must have swum. Did he come from the South Australia lot? He worked on the wharves, loading sugar cane onto ships. Carl August Heinrich SCHAPER born 13 aug 1868, Adonstedt, Hanover, Prussia s/o Conrad Friedrich Wilhelm SCHAPER and Johanna Dorethea MEIYER Any help at all would be appreciated. 3. Hi List members, I am reposting my interests again. Thank you. I would like to hear from anyone with KADDATZ connections, please. KADDATZ, Daniel Ludwig Edward (b. 13-Apr-1832, West Prussia; d. 24-Feb1912, Mackay, Qld, Australia) s/o KADDATZ and FALTZ m 1854 Auguste Justine Emillie GROSSKREUTZ (b. 1828, West Prussia; d. 12-Jul-1913, Mackay, Qld, Australia) previously married 1849 - Carl KADDATZ Arrived in Australia on "REICHSTAG", arrived Moreton Bay, Qld, 1-Aug-1872 with two sons: 1. Gustav Carl Edward KADDATZ, (b. 8-Mar-1859 Danzig, Prussia; d. 21-Jan-1953 Toogoolawah, Qld, Australia) m 13-Sep-1887 Wilhelmine Dorette WESCHE d/o Johann Christian Andreas WESCHE and Conradina Wilhelmine TAPPE 18 children 2. August Ludwig Edward KADDATZ (b. 7-Jan-1864 Lassier, Prussia; d. 28-Aug-1927 Mackay, Qld, Australia) m. 19-Jan-1895 Johanna Marie WESCHE d/o Johann Christian Andreas WESCHE and Conradina Wilhelmine TAPPE 13 children To-date all research has shown that ALL KADDATZ's in Queensland are descendants from these two brothers who married two sisters. Family gossip is that it was from town near Russian boarder (?), and that maybe Daniel Ludwig Edward KADDATZ was a Russian? They were possibly of the Lutheran faith, although this is uncertain. 2. Thais
    3. Hi group, I was wondering if anyone would know exactly the difference between certain terms used in the early census records. In 1869, I have someone listed under the heading 'Qualifications' as a 'Householder'. Does this mean that the person owned a house or just were living at that particular address? Later on, I have others listed as 'Freeholders' and 'Leaseholders'. I am curious about what these terms actually refer to. Would appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance. Thais Hardman Melbourne.

    2. NH BRAIN
    3. Dear listers, I have recently found my great uncle William Myers Harle's Boer War records, and he has listed his next of kin as G. Harle, living at the School of Arts, Rockhampton. At the time this man was 65, and had variously been described as engineer, engine fitter, and gentleman, and at the time of his death in 1907, aged 70 he was intestate and in the Dunwich Benevolent Asylum. My question is what would he have been doing living at the School of Arts in 1902. Heather. Melbourne

    3. Hi Terry Sorry to disagree with you but NT still has a little way to go for full Statehood. Admittedly the Commonwealth classes NT as a state for financial arrangements and it already has full legislative power except that the Com Gov can rescind any legislation that they don't like within 6 months of it being passed (if you remember what happened to their euthanasia law a few years ago). This is as quoted on the NT Parliament website www.nt.gov.au/lant Speaker's Home Page. The Speaker finishes off by saying that the next step for the NT will be full statehood. 1. list of Mental/Benevolent Asylum patients 1860s/1870s
    2. Judy Webster
    3. See http://www.judywebster.gil.com.au/colsec.html for a list of several hundred Mental Asylum and Benevolent Asylum patients mentioned in Queensland Colonial Secretary's in-letters during the 1860s and 1870s. The index was compiled from selected references that we came across by chance. Items indexed: * Lists of male and female patients confined in the Lunatic Asylum at 31 May 1867 (the original source gives age, native country, when admitted) * Lists of male and female patients discharged from the Lunatic Asylum, 1865 to May 1867 (includes some admissions as early as 1861; original source gives age, native country, dates admitted and discharged) * Lists of male and female patients who died in the Lunatic Asylum, 1865 to May 1867 (but actually includes some dated 1864; original source gives age, native country, when admitted, cause of death and remarks. Some of these names are not in the QLD Registrar-General's indexes to deaths!) * Lists of male and female patients discharged and readmitted between 1865 and May 1867 (original source gives age, when admitted, when discharged and in what state, when readmitted, supposed cause of relapse, and how disposed of since) * Various references from other letters (earliest 1867, latest 1871) concerning inmates of the Lunatic Asylum and Dunwich Benevolent Asylum, and a few similar items of interest. The list of names, and information on how to obtain copies of relevant items, is on http://www.judywebster.gil.com.au/colsec.html. ************************************************************** Judy Webster, PO Box 5043, Algester, QLD 4115, Australia.
