Published in Sunshine Coast Daily on July 17, 2015 IN MEMORIAM Graham Matheson A very well known and loved member of the Noosa Community for some 45 years, Graham Matheson died peacefully at home on 29th June 2015 after a long battle with Motor Neurone Disease. Graham and his wife Beverley settled in Noosa late in 1970 after having spent six months travelling around the world through over 36 countries. While living in Noosa, Graham who was an experienced Draftsman, set up Noosa District Plan Drafting Service. With Graham and Beverley's extensive travel experience, they also decided to open Noosa travel in 1972. Graham was always very community focused and became involved in the opening of the Noosa Chamber of Commerce, and with a few other business owners started the Beef Steak and Burgundy Club. In 1973 Graham was elected at a Noosa Shire Councillor and served for one full term, but sadly during the middle of his term in office he was operated on for a non malignant brain tumour. This operation did little to stop him and during his recovery did a number of things including building his house in Tinbeerwah, involvement in Tinbeerwah Hall, building public toilets, chairman of the Hall Committee for 35 years and designing of the Fire brigade building adjacent to the Hall. In the midst of all of this, his own office was a very busy place and Graham was involved in the designing of many of the buildings in Noosa area. His expertise and experience saw him become a co-founder of the Building Designers Association of QLD. Graham will be remembered as a loving husband to Mipi; a valued and hardworking member of the community; a man with wealth of knowledge and experience; a man with a wonderful sense of humour; a respected member of the Noosa District Pipe Band; a true gentleman who will be sorely missed.
