Take at look at the Public Record Office information pages at http://www.pro.gov.uk/leaflets/Riindex.asp especially, 'British Army: Useful Sources for Tracing Soldiers' These records must be accessed in person or via an agent, ie., a paid professional researcher. If you would like the name of one I have used let me know. There is also a chance you may find an entry in the PRO catalogue at http://catalogue.pro.gov.uk/ Go to Search the catalogue and enter the name at 1. and WO at 3. (WO = War Office).
