The 1st Field Artillery Battery was part of the 1st Division's 1st Field Artillery Brigade; the 13th of the 2nd Division's 5th Field Artillery Brigade. During the open warfare of 1917, artillery batteries were attached to infantry brigades, but not to battalions -- they are too small. Each division in the line would normally have the support of the artillery of two divisions, itrs own and that of the reserve division, so the batteries would have fired in support of every battalion at one time or another. >1st Field Artillery Battery >13th Field Artillery Battery BASE DEPOTS >Australian General Base Depot (AGBD) This was the Base Depot for incoming reinforcements other than Infantry. Located at Etaples, and later at Harfleur, near Le Havre. SERVICE CORPS >3rd Mechanical Transport Company Corps unit. Operated trucks in support of all divisions. ENGINEERS >Australian Signal Corps >Australian Signals Corps DLS Corps signals. Operated lines between corps headquarters and the divisions. VETERINARY >Australian Veterinary Hospital Located at Calais, France. For more details, consult the Order of Battle. -- ---- First AIF Order of Battle: http://www.adfa.edu.au/~rmallett/
