I'm back and still searching for above records. All I know is that on his death certificate he was listed as an army pensioner. In 1883 he married in Wentworth NSW and his occupation at that time was steward - could that have been with the army? When he died in 1900 his age was listed as being 78, but states that he was 50 when he married in 1883. He aged quickly??? He was in NSW from at least 1875 so could have joined up when they took volunteers when the English army pulled out. Can anyone help? Thanks Evelyn
