    3. Tom A very worthy task - please keep us informed. I am sure your are aware of George Ward's book but have you come accross Military Forces of Victoria 1854-1967 by the late George Vazenry. It has 24 chapters and about 400 pages. But assuming that you are, I have some information on the Victorian Units that I am attempting to put in a book at some time in the future, in the course of my collecting information I have come across references and articles about units from other states. Just trying to get the info on the Victorian units is a big enough task, I dont envy you trying to do all Colonies. for example I have a photocopy of the Rules & Regulations for the "Hobart Town Masonic Volunteer Rifle Company" published in 1860. For Western Australia you might want to have a look at "From Captains to Colonels" by James Ritchie Grant and the "Records of the Western Australia Museum" 17: 73-116 (1995) which details the Military Firearms in Colonial Western Australia: their issue & Markings. I have a number of manuals from the Victorian Volunteers, and for my book I have put together a Index of all the Members of the Victorian Forces who were listed in the Victorian Gazette. Anyway let me know what you are after & I will see what I have.
