    3. OMISSION OF SINS (By George Makin) There are certain rules you must observe When writing a history, You have to forget the "truth as was" For fear of disharmony. If the Ponsonby-Jones' grandfather Ate yams and kangaroo rat, As you know for gospel truth he did Well, you'd better not mention that. Oh, the very best historians Should never do things by halves But if the "Mi-whisper-it's" wealth began With somebody else's calves 'Tis better not even to hint at it Or all too soon you may find You've a note from his solicitors With a libel case in mind. Oh! highly rated as pioneers Were grandfather and spouse Who didn't bother the parson when Deciding to set up house. There's a line between where scandal ends And history begins. Remember, by all means, the pioneers, But forget to mention their sins! Cheers, Ted Harris

    3. Ted Too true. However, it is interesting to know "warts and all" what our ancestors were up to ! - Let's face it, we can't change it now. I have come across a couple of interesting relations whose World War 1 dossiers indicated that their war record was far from exemplary. One who claimed to have won the Military Medal (he didn't) and who went AWOL for a month; another who seemed to have spent most of his time inhabiting the brothels of Cairo while he seemed to spend his time doing nothing much in particular !
