The Balonne Shire in Queensland is centred around St George, Surat, Dirranbandi, Bollon and Thallon. It has a rich history. Some years ago Geoffery Owen Armstrong wrote a history of Balonne Shire called "In Mitchell's Footsteps": A History of the Balonne Shire, Queensland. With the permission of his family I have started to reproduce that book and two others that he wrote. The text from the first book is completed and I will be adding the pictures this weekend.
