    3. Hello I am new to this list and wondered if anyone can help with a query about "Commonwealth War Dead". If you are listed as "Commonwealth War Dead" does it mean you were from the commonwealth or does it include english soldiers as well? I have an English family who were said to have "gone to Australia" before World War 1. I can find no information to support this but have found the father Sidney Lister HALL listed among the commonwealth war dead. He served with the Middlesex Regiment 26 Bn and the address given for the wife is a Middlesex address. Regards Susan Dwyer Auckland NZ

    3. Susan Commonwealth War Dead includes all British, Empire and Commonwealth war dead who were members of military forces. It distinguishes military dead from civilians and merchant seamen. England is part of the United Kingdom and soldiers from England are usually referred to as British soldiers.
