This medal was not only given to Mothers. I have the one given to my mother (with one star) for my father serving during WWII. I also have a heart shaped pendant made from a 2/- and 1/- on top of each other piece by my father. Part of the 2/- piece is can be seen on the back. It is engraved on the front with my mother's name and the year 1942. Elayne
