    3. In reference to 'Dead Man's Pennies" we have to keep in mind that the original glorious promises of "one to the family for each man who fell' was in fact a goal NEVER reached. The British Government ran out of enthusiasm, money and will all at about the same time and thousands of families missed out. Hey, why not? The war is over, they are dead so they really don't matter (they don't vote) and we can look to the future with confidence. The families might not want them anyway and if they do, they won't know that they are not going to receive one until AFTER the next election. The more things change the more they stay the same?
