    1. [AUS-MIL] Drawing of Female in Lancer uniform
    2. 2. Female South Australian Lancer? (Ted HARRIS) Ted, In the National Library this is some music called the South Australian Lancers written 1875-1877.On the front is a persons name and the date 99. A Google search also found some modern lead soldiers called South Australian Lancers I would ask questions about the province of that picture. I would think it is a spoof or Cartoon or a pinup picture. The style of the clothing does not appear go with the short skirt. Till about 1912 or so a women showing her ankles were considered titillating Skirts did not go above the ankle till about 1918 or later and dresses lost all shape. Regards Elizabeth Roberts http://img228.imageshack.us/my.php?image=salancersfront2du0.jpg I have been asked for an opinion on this image. I am stuck. I was not aware there were any "South Australian Lancers" that were female. I am not even 100% sure that a unit of that name existed. Some say yes, some say no. Any advice or help available is welcome Cheers, Ted Harris ------------------------------ To contact the AUS-MILITARY list administrator, send an email to AUS-MILITARY-admin@rootsweb.com.
