Edward "Tip" Broughton, full name Edward Renata Muhunga Broughton was in the New Zealand Army in the South African War (9th Contingent No 7277) & WWI Gallipoli & France (16/518). In WWII he joined the AIF in Melbourne. His father was a British farmer in Hawkes Bay near Hastings, and his mother was Maori. He put his age up for the Boer War (he was 16), and down for WWII. After joining the AIF in Melbourne, his age reduction (by 16 years) was discovered and he was eventually put in charge of the 8th Australian Employment Company. They were largely Jews from Germany, the 'Dunera Boys'. He died in Melbourne in 1955, and in September a ceremony at Melbourne's Fawkner Cemetery unveiled a new headstone to him. http://www.onlinecatholics.com.au/issue121/news1.php Yours, John Wilson
